OPEN DOORWAYS

nimittam aprayojakaṁ prakṛtīnāṁ varaṇa-bhedas tu tataḥ kṣetrikavat

Causes do not put nature, Prakrti, into motion. They only remove the obstacles and coverings, like a farmer breaking down the barriers to let water flow in the field. The hindrances removed by the causes, Nature impenetrates by herself.
—PYS IV. 3 (Commentary by Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati)

Many people think a yoga practice is about acquiring something, a certain skill or the ability to do an asana. What you are really doing is eliminating the obstacle that prevents you from getting there. You're stripping away all the excess. It is the restrictive thought, the narrowing of possibilities that disallows the flow of energy or prana. We want these doorways to be open. Yogis are very practical, so to do that, we must investigate how they became closed.

Most often, an asana practice is associated with the physical body. That body is called Annamaya kosha or the food body. Kosha means sheath or covering. But what is moving the physical body? You may think, well, I am. But what actually moves your body is your vitality. Pranamaya kosha is the vital body where prana flows through energy channels called nadis. Now, you can't dissect a human body and find the nadis. They aren't visible, but they exist and you can feel them. You can tell when you have abundant energy or when energy is lacking. The koshas are sheaths that cover who we really are. That is whatever you want to call it – spirit, a creation of the Divine, a magical appearance, free, happy, unlimited. That's your true nature.

You have five koshas or bodies. They may not be visible either, but they all interact with each other. In an asana practice, you could have emotional things going on, you could have intellectual things going on, you could have blissful things going on, and you certainly have physical things going on. But, in the end, what we're trying to affect is our vitality, the flow of energy. We want to remove barriers that prevent the energy from moving a beneficial way.

Ksetrika is the Sanskrit word for farmer. In India, rice is farmed in paddies. The way it works is the farmer builds a little earth mound around the rice paddy to protect it from a nearby source of flowing water. An expert farmer knows exactly when to take the mound away so the paddy gets flooded at just the right time. The farmer must know how long to leave the field flooded before replacing the mound and stopping the flow. Just because someone has good soil, good seeds and available water, that doesn't mean they are going to have a good rice crop. It takes a special intelligence to understand what the rice needs to grow. It takes a special wisdom to know the right time of the season, and so forth. All those elements work together to support growth. That is what Patanjali describes in the yoga sutra.

What you do acquire in a yoga practice is that excellent wisdom, that special intellect that allows you to open the gate and let prana flow to places that have become closed off. You gain it by feeling the restrictions in how you can articulate the physical body with your energy. You may want to do an asana, but somehow you can't get the energy flowing into the back of your leg. The knee is shaky and the foot is bumbling. But, through practice and diligence, you gradually learn to allow the energy to flow freely into the leg. You know how to open and close the gates, like the good farmer.

More than the physical position, your task is to be free while you're there. Study body language and you can see arrogance, defensiveness or fear in subtle expressions of the body. Are you mainly worried about yourself and your asana? Did you forget why you are doing it? Low self-esteem shows in the physical body's inability to move with freedom, openness and joy. It is a result of thoughts toward yourself and others. It's a result of selfish actions taken in the past. This is what closes doors and disallows the flow of prana that would promote growth. If unkind actions close doorways in our lives, then what we're looking for are kind and virtuous actions.

You are not losing anything by giving away your kindness to others. In fact, you are filled with more vitality. You've experienced this at times when you are low on energy, and just really don't have anything left, but then someone close to you needs your understanding. They need your compassion and support, and you really love them. You love them so much that your own fatigue goes on the back burner. You're there for them out of a sense of identification with them, out of a love for them. We want that complete freedom, so that wherever you go, you are fully alive and have the ability to surprise everyone with your openness.

—PYS IV. 3 (Kommentar: Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati)

Lady Ruth"Move over Lady Gaga. In New York City yoga circles, there's only one Lady -- and her name is Lady Ruth. Ruth Lauer-Manenti, affectionately known as Lady Ruth by many of her students at Jivamukti, began practicing yoga in 1989 as a way to heal from a bad car accident. Since then, her keen observation of everyday beauty and blend of spirit and movement has made her one of the most respected teachers around." – www.mindbodygreen.com

RUTH LAUER MANENTI, a.k.a. Lady Ruth, started practicing yoga 30 years ago after a bad car accident as a form of physical therapy. Soon after she became interested in the philosophy and the mental and spiritual benefits. She has been practicing the discipline of yoga ever since and has a good basic knowledge of yogic scriptures.

She has had the blessing of studying with great teachers: Sharon Gannon, David Life, Sri K Pattabhi Jois, Saraswathi Jois, Sharath Jois, and Dr. MS Jayashree, who all acknowledge her as their student.
Her teachings are based on the teachings of her teachers, her practice and study, and the incredible group of highly interested and motivated students she has had.

Lady Ruth has been teaching at the Jivamukti Yoga school in NYC for more than 25 years. She travels and teaches all around the world and reaches people through her sincerity and the lovely yet challenging way she structures her classes.

She has also been a Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training Faciltator a number of times.

Lady Ruth also is the author of two noted books, "An Offering of Leaves" & "Sweeping the Dust" each containing over 40 Dharma Talks on the Yoga Sutras, which reflect the rich experience, she has gained during her long practice as a yoga teacher & student.

SATSANG: FIRST YAMA: AHIṂSĀ, NON-VIOLENCE

Non-violence and truth are inseparable and presuppose one another.
—Mahatma Ghandi

Satsang will focus on the importance of ahiṃsā—non–violence—as the root of all practices carrying an intention towards liberation. Ahiṃsā is not limited to physical actions but also considers the intention behind thoughts and deeds towards all beings.

Ahiṃsā, a recurring observance in many traditions seeking the truth, is the first ethical restraint in the eight limb Raja Yoga system of Patanjali. It is one of the five tenets of the Jivamukti Yoga Method calling for mindful and compassionate life with all beings.

Injurious ways and malice kill the natural power of mindstuff, and waves of this injurious mind cause injury, knowingly or unknowingly. When these injurious waves are removed and mind is established in ways of non-injury, these waves radiate in all directions. Before such a yogi all living beings forget their hostilities.

Texte, Philosophie, Meditationen von Sri Pantajali, Thich Nhat Hanh, Ram Dass, Jack Kornfield

Unconditional love really exists in each of us. It is part of our deep inner being. It is not so much an active emotion as a state of being. It's not "I love you" for this or that reason, not "I love you if you love me." It's love for no reason, love without an object. It's just sitting in love, a love that incorporates the chair and the room and permeates everything around.

Discover why it went wrong when it went wrong, and recover from that wrong and restart our life. Once you start life and press wrong button, you will have to hear the whole music. Our expansion of the focus of our lens on life expands by a 7-year cycle of consciousness. The second phase is 7 to 14. At 11 we enter teenage; therefore the 11-year cycle is the cycle of intelligence; so whatever our focus of life on our life is up to 11 years doesn't change. It doesn't matter how old we become if we do not recover from it. There is an element in you... the child of yesterday. Correct the child now if you want to correct the adulthood, and correct the adulthood if you want a graceful old age. There are 3 stages to life. Child has to be made intelligent up to the age of 27. Child has to be made conscious in us up to the age of 54. Child has to made saintly in us up to the day of the end. Otherwise you are not rightfully human.

DAILY SCHEDULE (same on every day of this immersion):
5:00-7:30am Sadhana
9:30am-12:00 Morning Workshop
13:30-16:00 Afternoon Workshop

THEMES OF THE INDIVIDUAL DAYS OF THE IMMERSION

May 18th

Awaken To Your Infinite Sensitivity
Every person has the ability to know the Unknown through Intuition and Sensitivity. Various centers within our body can be developed to know and to hear in an extremely elevated way. Join us as we awaken the heart, increase the radiance of the arc line and the aura, and fine-tune the mind to that special wisdom that is available to all, using the tools of Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, and the Sacred Sound Current of the Word and the Gong.

May 19th

Becoming Like Angels
Out of the Mind Comes the Lotus
Experiencing the Kindness in You

Life is both plus and minus; however, for some 2 + 2 = 5. They add smiles, warmth, love, and kindness, which equal the most powerful healing on the planet. We become like Angels by harvesting and honing our inner strength, allowing us to be secure, to give to all, and to be consumed in the service of Life and Destiny. This class will challenge your ego, and give you the health and inner energy to live from your Angelic nature. Come dance, chant, sweat, and enjoy the company!

May 20th

Sailing through with Grace and Ease
This most amazing and profound experience will lead you directly into the Sound Current. In that sacred inner circle you will hear the Call of your Destiny. You will then answer the Call. There is an inner calling deep within every human, a noble Call of the Destiny – a calling that sees the presence of God in everything around you. Those who live for their Destiny: The Universe lives for them. Anything that you need to fulfill you this lifetime will then run to you.
The Masters tell us that there are many ways to open to our Destiny. Most people learn through the law of karma, through action and reaction, hopefully awakening to life's purpose; however, this process can take lifetimes. The best process is to develop the neutral meditative mind, where we are presented with a profound knowingness. As this inner guidance opens, we become strong, joyful, and deeply fulfilled.
Now more than ever, we are being asked to move into that deep inner strength, for humanity is being tested. Our highest spirit must prevail. Join us in this deeply meditative class as we use the sacred science of Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, and the Gong to erase our duality and enhance our Excellence. Let us learn to listen deeply to how we can serve our Soul's calling, and in so doing help uplift the planet.

May 21st

Moving from Karma into a Life of Dharma in the Aquarian Age
For many life is lived in a constant state of action and reaction, likened to a roller-coaster ride; however, at some point in our Spiritual Journey, we realize there is more to our being and life. Let us train ourselves to act and not react to all that occurs around us. Let us develop the habit to watch our lives as a series of events, just as we watch a movie. From this meditative perspective we are free. We move from karma to Dharma. We choose how we shall proceed and perceive. Together we shall realize that we do have the right to choose our own Reality, using the tools of Kundalini Yoga, Chanting, Meditation, Dance, and the Sound of the Sacred Gong.

Luminous Shabda Retreat

"MEET THE INNOVATORS...SHARON GANNON AND DAVID LIFE" (Yoga Journal, USA)
Jivamukti Yoga founded by Sharon Gannon and David Life, is one of the fastest growing and most highly regarded modern approaches to the ancient art of yoga. Sharon Gannon together with David Life have certified hundreds of students to teach the Jivamukti method through the intense one month residential 300 hour Teacher Training course which is offered each year in the US, Costa Rica and/or Europe/India. With their Yoga DVDs and the books "Jivamukti Yoga" (also translated into German, Russian & Italian), "The Art of Yoga", "Yoga and Vegetarianism", "Cats and Dogs are People, too!", "Simple Recipes for Joy", Sharon and David are changing the way that people view spirituality, life, themselves, each other, animals and the environment.

Sharon Gannon David LifeSHARON GANNON started her quest for liberation upon her birth on July 4th in Washington, DC. Sharon views art as a means for uplifting the soul and her artistic pursuits enriched the community by educating and inspiring. In 1984 she shifted her main focus from the performing arts to teaching yoga in the hope of giving practical methods that would benefit people more directly and immediately. Sharon has studied yoga since 1976 with many teachers around the globe, most notably with Shri Brahmananda Saraswati, Swami Nirmalanada, Shri K. Pattabhi Jois, Swami Shankarananda, Shyam Das and Bhagavan Das. She brings a rare blend of scholarly study, artistic pursuits and a highly disciplined asana and meditation practice to her offerings as a teacher.

DAVID LIFE: Bios are hard for me to digest. The idea that a picture could be painted of me with some little list of factoids is untenable. The only thing that gives me credibility as a yoga teacher is the graceful association with my teachers. Sometimes I like to read bios because it tells me things about a person that I didn't know and to that end, here is a list of all the significant jobs that have come my way over the past 60 years, in order: Lawnmowing and snowshoveling, Paper delivery, Beer and Wine store stockboy, Forklift driver in Corrugated box company, Phone order taker, Dishwasher, Cafeteria manager, Welder in Steel MIll, Apartment building super, Silk screen production and designer, Graphic designer, Illustrator, Artist, Poet, Life Cafe owner, Yoga teacher, Bio writer!

Anja KühnelANJA KÜHNEL has been a devoted student of Sharon Gannon and David Life since she first met them while temporarily living in New York. She has been directing the two Berlin Jivamukti Yoga Centers and their Jivamukti Apprenticeship Teacher Training program since 2008. After 15 years of study with Sharon and David, Anja is more than grateful for all she has learned and all that she is still going to learn. Anja has been practicing yoga with teachers of various yoga styles and has traveled the world to do so. But in her heart, Anja knew immediately after her first Jivamukti class, that it was where she belonged. She teaches at her two Berlin Jivamukti Yoga Centers, is regularly invited as a guest teacher worldwide and leads the 800-hour Jivamukti Apprenticeship Teacher Training Program in Berlin. She has also been a regularly invited to mentor at the international Jivamukti Teacher Trainings and co-faclitates the June 2017 Costa Rica Jivamukti Teacher Training together with David Life and Rima Rabbath.

Everyone is talking about Sharon & David's Jivamukti Yoga method….
“Sharon Gannon und David Life who founded their own yoga method called Jivamukti Yoga in the late 80ies and, with it, made Yoga for the first time ever socially acceptable for western urban dwellers. Among their students are Sting, Madonna, Christy Turlington and basically all other non-overweight famous american actors and musicians. Many speak about them as Gurus. With their mixture of old Indian tradition and modern lifestyle like rock music they were the ones who were majorly responsible for the Yoga boom, which from New York has long spilled over to Germany: Three million Germans are said to regularly practice Yoga these days ... in Berlin-Mitte it appear to be two million alone.'
--Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, Germany
"David Life looks like Iggy Pop, is widely tatooed, has an incredible power in his stringy tiny arms and the great luck to have a woman on his side who has a delphine blue streak in her black hair and who is radiating a mild wisdom that makes one want to start crying immediately as soon as she opens her mouth. With their headsets, the two contrive to get every hall to boil.... – Oh My Guru!"
--DIE WELT, Germany
“..holistic vision extending to strict vegetarianism and hard-core animal rights activism'
--Vanity Fair USA
“David and Sharon have inspired and encouraged us to think of yoga not just as a system of exercises but also as a door to the infinite.”
--Sting
"It has the full package, more than just exercise. I always learn something at Jivamukti; they really educate the students."
-- Christy Turlington
“Without Sharon and David, yoga in the US would still be the obscure practice of a few devotees.”
--The New York Times, USA
“The pioneers of yoga in the United States, inspire us to appreciate life’s depth and breadth.”
--25, Japan
“Jivamukti Yoga offers the tantalizing promise of not only a well-toned body, but salvation too.”
--Hinduism Today, USA
“Es handelt sich dabei um eine kraftvolle Praxis, die Körper und Intellect stimuliert und zu spirituelleum Bewusstsein führen möchte.”
--Yoga Aktuell, Germany
“Meshing the spiritual and psychological elements of yoga with the physical ones, Jivamukti yoga forces students to confront both their bodily and emotional limitations.”
--Harpers and Queens, UK
“Lean, flexible, vegetarian, poetry writing, theosophist, celestial American yogis…their salutes to the sun are done by the stars.”
--Sunday Morning Post, Hong Kong

--Yoga Journal, USA

--Yoga Journal USA
"Once you make Jivamukti yoga part of your life, you will look different to the world and the world will look different to you"

- -Yogi Times USA

▲▼ MORE INFO ON THE RETREAT LOCATION AND ACCOMODATION

Wild Woodstock Retreat

OUR LOCATION FOR THE YOGA CLASSES AND EVENTS:
Jivamukti Yoga co-founders Sharon Gannon and David Life open part of their home in Woodstock, NY (USA) for this special retreat. Here they have established the magical Wild Woodstock Forest Sanctuary which also holds a beautiful intimate yoga shala right next to their house where all yoga classes and events of this retreat will be held.

The Wild Woodstock Jivamukti Forest Sanctuary is a magical 125-acre sanctuary established in 2003 and located in the beautiful Catskill Mountains near Woodstock in upstate New York (about 2 hours north of New York City and 3.5 miles from downtown Woodstock).

The Sanctuary serves as a safe haven and unpolluted habitat for diverse plant and animal communities, including white tail deer, black bear, foxes, porcupines, possums, raccoons, turkeys, as well as a large variety of wild birds, fish, snakes and other reptiles and amphibians. In present culture, the word wild is usually used to mean "chaotic" or "disorganized," but the word actually means "living true to one's nature; not restrained, controlled or tamed by others." The quest for enlightenment is a quest for wildness—to return to the natural state in which we know ourselves as one with all that is and we live that truth fully.

Sharon Gannon often teaches that we can have anything we want so long as we are willing to provide it to others first. She and David Life live that teaching by having established and by maintaining the Wild Woodstock Jivamukti Forest Sanctuary, which is the country ashram for the Jivamukti Yoga School.

Wild Woodstock Retreat

YOUR ACCOMMODATION DURING THIS RETREAT will be provided in handpicked high quality properties/houses in the Woodstock area. All houses are shared (2 to 5 twin/double or single rooms in one property), i.e. you will share a common living area, a fully equipped self-catered kitchen and 1 to 3 bathrooms with up to 4-10 other retreat participants (depending on the size of the house, number of single rooms booked etc.). All properties and rooms are individual with their special treats so it is hard to compare them. We also offer a number of optional upgrades to the standard accommodation to better suit your individual requirements. Check registration form for details.

Wild Woodstock Retreat

BOARD DURING THIS RETREAT: All houses come with well equipment self-catered kitchens and are strictly vegan, i.e. no diary, egg or meat products may be brought into any of the houses.  The idea of this retreat is to also create a Satsang experience by cooking together delicious vegan meals in groups of likeminded vegan yogis. All houses will be equipped with a copy of Sharon Gannon’s cookbook “Simple Recipes for Joy”. For days/nights out, there are also some very nice vegan restaurants in Woodstock.

▲▼ GENERAL INFO ON THE YOGA PROGRAM & OTHER ACTIVITIES

Sharon Gannon David Life Woodstock Retreat

BEING WILD, the underlying theme of this first of its kind retreat, in present culture, is usually used to mean "chaotic" or "disorganized". But the word actually means "living true to one's nature; not restrained, controlled or tamed by others". The quest for enlightenment is a quest for wildness - to return to the natural state in which we know ourselves as one with all that is and we live that truth fully. Reaching this state actually requires the oposite of "chaos" and "disorganization": A regular intensive yoga practice, not only asana wise but also by studying the other legs of yoga and having satsang with other like minded yogis and most importantly, your teachers.

Sharon Gannon David Life Woodstock Retreat

This is why we have designed this one of a kind Jivamukti Yoga Intensive Retreat in Woodstock in order to provide you the opportunity to immerse for up to two weeks in intensive dalily study and practice right from the source with the founders of the Jivamukti Yoga method. Every morning of this retreat, Sharon Gannon and/or David Life will teach a 4 hour intensive Jivamukt Yoga workshop from 10am to 2pm (ca. 3 hour asana practice and ca. 1 hour yoga philosophy teachings). These workshop style morning classes will be complemented by daily 2hour Jivamukti Yoga Open XL classes with Jivamukti Yoga Berlin director Anja Kuehnel and occassionally also other international Jivamukti Yoga teachers in the late afternoon and, occasionally Satsangs, Kirtans and other special events with Sharon Gannon, David Life, Anja Kuehnel and other presenters.

Sharon Gannon David Life Woodstock Retreat

Special Bonus Events: Approximately 1-2 times per week, we hope to offer special events in the late afternoon/evening, such as Satsangs or Kirtans or Yoga Philosophy lectures with Sharon Gannon, David Life and other presenters, which in some cases due to time constraints will be offered INSTEAD of the afternoon Open XL class (i.e. sometimes no Open XL class on special events days). Once during each of the two weeks of this retreat, we invite you to a Karma Yoga session to benefit the Wild Woodstock Forrest Sanctuary area. Exact daily schedule TBA at the retreat venue.

Sharon Gannon David Life Woodstock Retreat

Please note for your planning: On the arrival days there is NO morning class nor Q&A conference with Sharon Gannon and/or David Life, i.e. the first class on your arrival day is the afternoon class with Anja. This also applies if your arrival day is August 20 even though Sharon and David teach on this day in the morning, as this class is only for the people who also booked Part I of the retreat. On August 19 and 27 (final days), there is no evening class with Anja, last class on August 19 and 27 is the morning workshop with Sharon Gannon and/or David Life from 10am-2pm. If you booked both weeks, August 19 in the evening and August 20 in the morning provides a welcome opportunity to take "a day off" and explore Woodstock and its surroundings. For instance, you could visit Ananda Ashram or the Farm Sanctuary. Or go swimming.

As normal with renowned teachers like Sharon Gannon and David Life, the practice space included in this retreat strictly is the size of one regularly sized yoga mat (ca. 0,65x1,8m) only. All practice spots are marked and mats must be placed within the markers. You should bring your own yoga mat as there are only a limited number of rental mats. The yoga room has blankets and straps for your use. It also has a limited number of blocks. If you anticipate using blocks, please bring your own, as we cannot guarantee to have enough for everyone.

▲▼ TBA IN JULY 17: WELCOME LETTER BY ANJA FOR THE RETREAT + DETAILLED SCHEDULE + TRAVEL INFO

Dear Wild Woodstock Retreat participants!

Please find below a personal message for you from Anja along with an outline of the official schedule.

In case you booked housing through us (i.e. no discount for no-accommodation), please tell us your expected arrival times in Woodstock so we can organize the checkin schedule. Please note that checkin generally is at 3pm but we can maybe plan around that a bit if we know everyone's expected arrival time. Once we have this information, we will get back to you with further information on checkin.

This year, we are planning to also do a little bit of Karma Yoga in the Wild Woodstock Forrest in order to give back. For this, please bring with you a pair of suitable protective shoes and gloves (e.g. flimsy flip-flops or open-toed sandals, and bare hands would not be protective for someone hiking in the woods or picking up trash e.g. glass, garbage etc.)

Message from Anja

Accept us both together, protect us both together, may our knowledge and strength increase together, may we not resent each other.

Dear ones,

I am thanking all of you for making an effort to create the time and space to be together! We hold precious and dear in our hearts whatever we put our energy into. It is 100% up to us. Life is pulling us in all these different directions. It is wonderful that we are all meeting here at Sharon ji's and David ji's beautiful home and at the sanctuary they have created for the animals, plants and us human people, and that all of us together get the chance to immerse into our practice in this beautiful natural environment which is supporting us on all levels.
Let us put all of our love into what we do! Let us always remind each other that this is what truly matters in life. To uplift each other, to enjoy each other's company, to learn from each other, to see the beauty in each moment and to be grateful for the gift of life. Putting our prāṇa in what we truly care about: to be as natural and loving as one can possibly be, taking rest in our true nature, to truly be free and to serve with each breath.

May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.

Love.
Anja

▲▼ MORE INFO ON THE VENUE/LOCATION OF THE DAILY CLASSES - WILD WOODSTOCK FOREST SANCTUARY

Wild Woodstock Retreat

THE VENUE FOR THE DAILY CLASSES OF THE RETREAT:
Jivamukti Yoga co-founders Sharon Gannon and David Life open part of their home in Woodstock, NY (USA) for this special retreat. Here they have established the magical Wild Woodstock Forrest Sanctuary which also holds a beautiful intimate yoga shala right next to their house where The 2016 Jivamukti Yoga Wild Woodstock Intensive Retreat will be held.

Doors open 30mins before the classes. Please respect the Wild Woodstock Forrest Sanctuary and its inhabitants by keeping the noise level down during checkin and by not arriving much earlier than the doors open. Please bring your own mat if possible, other props (blocks etc.) are available in limited quantity. Please make sure to park your car properly and follow the instructions of the parking attendant.

Call or check online for fares and schedule. Check the schedule before traveling, as there may be seasonal and holiday changes!

Woodstock Taxi phone# 845-679-7766
The bus from NYC can take you to Woodstock (10 minutes from the Sanctuary) or to Kingston (20 minutes from the Sanctuary). Then you would have to take a taxi to the Wild Woodstock Forest Sanctuary (3651 route 212, Shady, NY) or to the location you will be staying at.

Some buses from NYC go all the way to Shady, which is where the Wild WDST Forest Sanctuary is, but you have to purchase your ticket in NYC to Shady, then you have to let the bus driver know where to let you off when you ask him or her to stop. Tell the driver, "in Shady, just past Church Road, near an old red barn."

The old red barn will be on the right side of the road just after the first curve of an "S" curve past Church Road. There will be a red mailbox with the numbers 3651 and a black & white painted wooden cat on top of the mailbox, the cat is pointing across the road to our driveway. Next to our driveway at the entrance to the sanctuary will be a tall pole with a winged Siamese cat on top and a sign that says "LIFE/GANNON." Also look for a white and black painted sign that says "YOGA" Walk all the way to the top of the driveway.

We suggest for first time visitors that you take the bus to Woodstock and call the taxi to bring you to the Sanctuary and not tell the bus driver to take you to Shady as you may get lost.
